We live as long as we fly

Dream — 4

Every time, it surprises me more and more.

Today I dreamed that I was at school, and PE class was starting soon. We marveled at the new changing room with its European-style renovation, plastic windows, wooden baseboards, and iron door, and went to wait for the lesson to begin. While wandering around, we strayed far from the school. To get back on time, we hopped onto a self-propelled, topless train car (a platform on wheels) that was cruising down a super wide avenue on the tram tracks to the left.

A green half-wagon stands on the tracks in front of a yellow railway machine and a red freight car, with a green passenger train on a trestle in the background.

For some reason, the car started accelerating faster and faster, reaching breakneck speed. What to do? Jump off — you'll break your legs. For some reason, I knew exactly how many kilometers we had traveled, and I was stressing out that walking 40 km back would take forever. The car was racing like the wind, but the tracks ended, so it just went tearing straight down the road. Pedestrians barely had time to dodge, especially the kids who were playing in the way. Why they were doing that on an avenue remains a mystery, but it’s quite possible that the roadway had already ended by then, and we had entered a residential area.

Eventually, our vehicle reached some sort of dam set up right across the avenue, which by that time had degraded into a residential area. We tumbled over and ended up in the water, with me sinking to the bottom like a stone while my buddy stayed afloat. It turned out to be Sergey Kuznetsov, an actual classmate of mine. Curiously, forests of brown algae (kelp) grew underwater, and there was enough air to breathe.

It was a bit scary, so to keep my cool, I started focusing on my breathing (a simple and effective form of meditation).
It helped, and I heard the voice of an old lady from the nearby houses advising me to keep moving forward, that the swamp (sic) ends there. Looking around, I realized it was actually true, and somehow I made it to a dam made of clear plastic.

Here the first part of the dream ends, but that's far from all.
